Modern Dining Room Furniture with a Garden Theme

I recently remodeled my kitchenette.  I wanted to design the room with a
garden look since gardening is a favorite past time of mine.  I started
with a bold green color paint that I used below the chair rail but kept the
walls a soft cream white.  I used a fun accent border for a splash of color
and garden pictures.

Kitchen Design with Modern Dining Room Furniture

About a year and a half ago, I purchased my first home in Martinsville, VA; located in an older, traditional neighborhood and about a mile from Lake Lanier.  At the top of my list for renovation was the kitchen.  It was outdated and in poor condition.  The wallpaper, appliances, flooring, cabinets, and light fixtures all needed to be updated. I took a long-term approach and planned a design that was aesthetically pleasing, sensible for how I live, and fully functional, given my love for cooking.

Sunroom for Relaxation

We added this sunroom to our home and it has been such a wonderful addition.  The windows are tinted and we can move them to protect against the harsh morning sun and reposition for the afternoon sun.  We designed this space with a nautical theme with lighter sea blues and whites and added a touch of red for that Cape Cod feel.  The plants and stain glass pieces give it a warm and inviting feel.  This room is ideal for unwinding with a good book, early morning tea and reflection time as well as cozy family time.

Brightening up a Child's Room with Graphic Elements

Kids especially love themes, so consider designing your room around a theme. You and your child can have fun picking from different theme ideas that interest them. The space theme shown above is great for younger boys. Other idea themes might be; a pirate theme, underwater fish world theme, sports theme, travel, castle & dragon theme, race cars, farm with farm animals, firehouse with fire trucks, circus theme, zoo theme or beach theme with sand castles and turtles. These themes can be universal but specific girl themes could include an enchanted forest with a princess and castle.

Comfortable Apartment Furniture Makes College Feel Like Home

As the fall semester began at Appalachian State University, I moved into an upstairs/downstairs duplex nestled in a cove in Boone, N.C. and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. For my 20th birthday present, my parents generously purchased the Kemperton bedroom set from the Envision Lifestyle Collections by Hooker Furniture as my first apartment furniture. As we moved the furniture in and put my bed together and the room began to take shape, I felt that this room is the best space I've ever had in my life.

Making a Home your Own

My husband and I bought this fabulous 1950’s home that only had one previous owner. This home had good structure and character, but was very traditional in decorations. There are many decorating things that I don’t do, like flowers on walls, carpet and clutter. I have a simplistic style and things have to flow.

One room of the home that caused me to cringe was the dining room. It had light green carpet, flowered wall paper and a gold and crystal chandelier….urgh!

Turning a Basement into a Place for Family Connection

When my wife and I discovered she was expecting our second child, we realized we were nine months away from outgrowing our current home. Since we own a 3-bedroom home, and the newborn would be taking over the third bedroom, that meant we had one of two choices. We could either sell the house and find a larger one, or we could maximize the space we have and finish the unfinished basement of our house. While the first option may have been easier and more logical, we choose the latter. We soon met with a friend who is a local contractor to conjure up ideas about what we wanted.
