The craft room is next on our list to decorate.  Our first steps will be to pick out a fun paint color for the walls, get craft tables to work on, and figure out how to store all our materials.  Peter has obtained a small sewing table with an attached sewing machine to start.  We definitely need a craft table for each of us, and some type of organization system for all the different supplies we have.  Since we do a lot of crafting, we have very diverse needs.  We need something that will store scrapbooking supplies, sewing materials, paints & brushes, diorama supplies, electrical equipment, wrapping paper and costuming materials.  If you enjoy crafting like we do, the Abbot Place Hobby Cabinet has great storage capacity, and it offers a sophisticated look while providing work space as well.  You could potentially win a Hobby Cabinet of your own by entering the contest here.

Painting the craft room was another lesson in learning to trust experts.  The expert in this case is Laura Redd of Laura Redd Interiors.  After speaking with her about paint selection for our craft room, she suggested Delectable by Behr.  This is a sophisticated purple with gray undertones.  I was afraid that the gray undertones would look too gray compared to our bright yellow hallway.  Going against her advice, I picked out something less gray-Winter Amethyst.

Here is the part where I have great painter’s remorse: I paint the room purple, and discover that it looks like princess purple for a small child’s room and not sophisticated purple for an adult’s craft room.  Back to the drawing board!  In order to avoid painting over the lighter purple with something too dark, Laura suggested another color that would be light enough & look nice on top of Winter Amethyst.  Her suggestion was Plum Blossom, which I promptly painted on my wall.  The craft room now has a more sophisticated feeling and is ready for all our tables and supplies.  Plus, I learned a valuable lesson – trust your interior designer.

Yes, I do agree but I just

Yes, I do agree but I just want to say that all persons are not honest so we should inquire of the person before hiring them. Before choosing an interior design professional, ask about his or her credentials and request samples of previous work. A portfolio with photos of other projects can shed plenty of light on a designer’s particular style.
